The story of what happens when both my neighboring houses get torn down on the same day. One house went very well, the other one became a mess.

We drive along two blocks of West Wilmette to view what's going down (1,300 square foot ranch homes selling for $450 to $500k) and what's replacing them -- nearly 4,000 square foot mini-manses with asking prices of $1.3 to $1.5M.

Here is an entire neighborhood slated for demolition. What use to be a nice neighborhood of families with well kept homes is to become part of the airport. Chicago has deep pockets and was able to buy off all these families but the Village of Bensenville and other towns are fighting to stop the tear-downs.
